I grew up, in the 1980s, watching Arthur C. Clarke's "Mysterious World" where he talks about the Antikythera mechanism, Tunguska event, Stonehenge and related temples. And, of course, I read and watched 2001. My father had his "Voices in the Sky" which has some pretty good stuff about Space and Humanity. And really, I had read his Rendezvous with Rama, Against the Fall of Night(and City and the Stars), before he had passed. He passed before I thought to contact him In today's internet age, it's a good deal easier to talk to famous people of all sorts - sports/music people, and high end intellectuals. I had conversations with Freeman Dyson before he passed. But, I didn't get around to trying to talk to Arthur C. Clarke before he passed. I was too busy with reading and such on my own. I've written a book - Gospel of Truth - Mathematics as the Holistic Viewpoint. I have the antikythera mechanism in it. I show connections between it and Sir James Frazer's "The Golden Bough." And, I have Stonehenge as well. Well, I had made a connection between some ideas of Jacob Bronowski's "Origins of Knowledge and Imagination" and John D. Barrow's "Pi in the Sky." And, I wanted to contact John D. Barrow to show him my findings, but he had passed a month before I made my discovery. That was just a few years ago. Arthur C. Clarke passed back in 2005. I just bring it up because it's disappointing that I could not share with them my findings!

when I met him in 1996, he explained me that he started to copy photos. Orders he got plenty of families who had studio portraits or old photos which were passed throu many hands over the years and got faided. To preserve the image, he had to repint them. It was as a memory for a passed away family member. Beside that he had to show his talent by drawing famous actors. Because they were very much recognizable for his clients, he got the orders. Also tribal women from north vietnam are interesting motives. He keeps the photos as a dummy to reproduce a picture, once it is been sold. At the beginning he did not sign them. Later on it was important to put his signature below to outstand all the other artists in Hanoi. Nowadays he also places a red “chinese” stamp with his name in it.

It would be nice to see them finish off all the Mary Poppins books with Emily Blunt. I loved the original and Julie Andrews, but Emily has this thing about her that makes her absolutely perfect for this role. This is coming from someone who grew up with the original and I’m not fond of remaking original pieces, but this wasn’t a remake. I’m just sad that it took me so long to give this movie a go. Definitely a movie and a new Mary Poppins that can be cherished for years to come.
